This is how it all started. In 1952, at a little church on the corner of Orleans and Aisquith street in Baltimore City, MD, Winnie Gilliam, of Greenville, NC accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and received the infilling of the Holy Spirit. That following year her husband, Ernest Gilliam, Sr. was also saved. Evangelist Winnie Gilliam was given a vision by God to start a work, which was named St. Paul Apostolic Holiness Church, Incorporated. Founding Pastor Winnie Gilliam yielded the position of Pastor to her husband, Elder Ernest Gilliam, Sr. and the doors to the church were first opened on November 30, 1959 at 1600 N. Broadway. This was the beginning of the church’s rich history of Christian ministry and community service With the passing of time, and an increase in membership, it became necessary to move. On In 1980, Elder Ernest Gilliam, Sr. passed from labor to reward. The Board unanimously voted in favor of Founding Pastor Winnie Gilliam moving into the office of Pastor. Upon her retirement as active Pastor, Elder Ernest Gilliam, Jr. was elevated and consecrated to the position of Pastor on April 2, 1995. During his pastorate, the church enlarged its ministry of evangelism and often took the message “to the streets.” When Pastor Ernest Gilliam, Jr. began a new ministry and upon the triumphant passing from labor to reward of Founding Pastor Winnie Gilliam in January 2006, Evangelist Joyce L. England was elevated and consecrated from Interim Pastor to Pastor on Under the leadership of Pastor Joyce L. England, we are moving forward with her vision, that of a “be whole” ministry. In agreement with the Word of God, we continue to promote reconciliation with God and others, the healing of the whole person, and above all, love. |
